The Holy Quran 12:38 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

وَٱتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ ءَابَآءِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ مَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نُّشْرِكَ بِٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ

Translation

"I have adopted the religion of my forefathers (who are) Ibraheem عليه الصلاة والسلام Ishaaq and Yaqoob It is not (correct) for us to ascribe any partners to Allaah. This (understanding of Towheed) is from the favours upon us and upon all people, but most people are ungrateful (and refuse to accept it)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واتبعت دين آبائي إبراهيم وإسحاق ويعقوب فعبدت الله وحده، ما كان لنا أن نجعل لله شريكًا في عبادته، ذلك التوحيد بإفراد الله بالعبادة، مما تفضل الله به علينا وعلى الناس، ولكن أكثر الناس لا يشكرون الله على نعمة التوحيد والإيمان.
