The Holy Quran 12:24 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِهِۦ ۖ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلَآ أَن رَّءَا بُرْهَـٰنَ رَبِّهِۦ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ

Translation

She was determined to achieve her objectives from him, and he also would have intended the same had he not seen the proof of his Rabb (had he not been a Nabi). In this manner (Our fate had decreed the matter) so that We averted evil and immorality from him. Indeed he was from Our sincere bondsmen (the Ambiyaa).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد مالت نفسها لفعل الفاحشة، وحدَّثت يوسفَ نفسُه حديث خطرات للاستجابة، لولا أن رأى آية من آيات ربه تزجره عمَّا حدثته به نفسه، وإنما أريناه ذلك; لندفع عنه السوء والفاحشة في جميع أموره، إنه من عبادنا المطهرين المصطفَين للرسالة الذين أخلصوا في عبادتهم لله وتوحيده.
