The Holy Quran 12:13 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

قَالَ إِنِّى لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓ أَن تَذْهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَأَنتُمْ عَنْهُ غَـٰفِلُونَ

Translation

He (Ya'qoob عليه الصلاة والسلام) said, "Indeed it grieves me that he should go with you (because I cannot bear to be separated from him). (In addition to this,) I fear that you would neglect him (leave him by himself) and then a wolf would eat him up."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال يعقوب: إني لَيؤلم نفسي مفارقته لي إذا ذهبتم به إلى المراعي، وأخشى أن يأكله الذئب، وأنتم عنه غافلون منشغلون.
