The Holy Quran 11:88 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَرَزَقَنِى مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنْهَىٰكُمْ عَنْهُ ۚ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا ٱلْإِصْلَـٰحَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

Translation

Shu'ayb عليه الصلاة والسلام said, "O my people! Tell me. If I am on a clear proof from my Rabb (which proves that I am His Nabi) and He provides a bountiful provision for me, (then how can I stop preaching Towheed to you?). I do not wish to oppose you in a manner that I do the same things that I forbid you from doing (I shall therefore never instruct you to do anything that I am not willing to do myself. So accept what I tell you without fear). I only wish (for your) reformation as far as I am able (to make it possible). My ability is only from Allaah. Only on Him do I rely and only to Him do I turn."

قال شعيب: يا قوم أرأيتم إن كنت على طريق واضح من ربي فيما أدعوكم إليه من إخلاص العبادة له، وفيما أنهاكم عنه من إفساد المال، ورزقني منه رزقًا واسعًا حلالا طيبًا؟ وما أريد أن أخالفكم فأرتكب أمرًا نهيتكم عنه، وما أريد فيما آمركم به وأنهاكم عنه إلا إصلاحكم قَدْر طاقتي واستطاعتي، وما توفيقي -في إصابة الحق ومحاولة إصلاحكم- إلا بالله، على الله وحده توكلت وإليه أرجع…
