The Holy Quran 11:118 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً ۖ وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ

Translation

If your Rabb had willed, He would have made all people a single nation (all practising the correct Deen. However, He did not intend this for reasons best known to Him). (Therefore,) They will always be disputing...

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولو شاء ربك لجعل الناس كلهم جماعة واحدة على دين واحد وهو دين الإسلام، ولكنه سبحانه لم يشأ ذلك، فلا يزال الناس مختلفين في أديانهم; وذلك مقتضى حكمته.
