Paying zakat in separate portions
Question
A certain person has property and jewellery on which the zakat comes to 120 rupees annually. His income does not allow him to pay the zakat in one lump sum, and it is a heavy burden; sometimes he does not even have the means to pay the zakat in one lump sum, and paying it all at once weighs on him. May he give zakat little by little each month, or must he pay [it] specifically in Ramadan?
Answer
Zakat is discharged even when it is given little by little.
