Building a Mosque within Government Land
Question
Our house is by the roadside; in front of it is our courtyard, which is said to be government land, and by the demarcation marks it is said to be government land. On this land we have laid the foundation of a mosque, which is still in the form of a raised platform, on which the five daily prayers are being performed in congregation. What is the ruling on making this land a mosque?
Answer
Since that land is the property of the government and lies within its boundaries, proper permission should be obtained from the government for building the mosque; building a mosque without permission involves danger and risk — both according to the Shariʿa and legally.
