The Imamate of One Who Sees with One Eye
Question
In our village a defect developed for some reason in one eye of the imam of the mosque, so he needed an operation, and in the course of it the imam’s eye became useless; but the other eye is completely sound — he can see a book and the like well. Is prayer behind this imam permissible or not?
Answer
His imamate will not be declared impermissible merely because he had an operation on his eye and sees with only one eye; prayer behind him is valid.
