The imamate of one who consumes usury and one who shaves his beard

Question

Will the prayer be [valid] behind one who consumes usury (riba) and one who shaves his beard, or not? And is it right to appoint them as imam or not?

Answer

Appointing such a person as imam is makruh tahrimi. The prayer behind him will be makruh (al-Durr al-Mukhtar).
