The Hadith About People in Black Clothes

Question

Is there such a hadith containing a prophecy about the Shia — that people clad in black will emerge, so that when these people come one should not greet them with salam nor return their greeting, and should boycott them? Is there a hadith of this content? Kindly give the answer with a reference.

Answer

I do not know of any hadith stating that people clad in black will emerge, and that consequently, when they come, one should not greet them with salam, should not return their greeting, and should boycott them. The sects of the Shia differ among themselves in their beliefs, and the ruling concerning them likewise differs. Details are given in “al-Sawa‘iq al-Muhriqa”.
