A Feast Upon Completing the Memorization of the Qur’an
Question
My child has memorized the Noble Qur’an by heart. I intend to hold a motivational gathering and distribute sweets. Is there any Sharia objection to doing this?
Answer
The Noble Qur’an is a tremendous wealth from Allah Almighty. Memorizing it is likewise a tremendous wealth. If, in gratitude [for this blessing], one invites friends and acquaintances and feeds the poor and one’s close ones, this is an expression of appreciation for this blessing, not something forbidden. It may be that Allah grants others too a longing (shawq)
