Swearing an Oath About Nikah and Then Acting Against It

Question

A man said: “I will marry your daughter Anwara. I pledge to Allah and swear that, leaving Anwara aside, I will not marry anyone else.” Now if that man marries some other girl, what is the ruling?

Answer

If he marries another girl, the expiation (kaffara) for the oath will be binding on him.
