Was Hazrat Shah Waliullah Also a Muqallid?

Question

Was Hazrat Shah Waliullah ﵀ a muqallid or one who did not follow taqlid? If he was a muqallid, what was his madhhab? Here some people say that he did not follow taqlid. Kindly explain [the matter] with proofs and references to authoritative books.

Answer

Hazrat Shah Waliullah ﵀ was richly endowed with the wealth of vast learning, profound thought, excellent character, righteous deeds, purification of the soul (tazkiya), inner purity, a strong spiritual connection (nisba) and sound spiritual unveiling (mukashafa). Whenever any difficulty arose for him in anything, he resolved it at once through the Prophetic spirituality.
