Imam Mālik, may Allah have mercy on him (d. 179 AH)
Answer
Ḥaḍrat Imam Mālik is known by the title "Imām Dār al-Hijrah" [Imam of the Abode of the Hijrah, i.e., Madīnah]. In service to ḥadīth, he compiled the famous book of ḥadīth, "al-Muwaṭṭaʾ"; after compiling this book, it was presented before seventy scholars, and all of them expressed muwāṭāt [agreement] — and for this reason it was named "al-Muwaṭṭaʾ.
