The Place of Reward and Punishment

Question

On the Day of Recompense, when punishment and reward are given, in what place will it be — for instance, at the Ka‘ba, in Madina, in Sham, or elsewhere?

Answer

Reward and punishment will be in Paradise and Hell, while the plain of the Gathering (maydan al-hashr) is in the land of Sham; thus in “Tafsir Ibn Kathir”, Surah al-Hashr, vol. 4, p. 232, and “Mukhtasar Tadhkirat al-Qurtubi”, p. 43.
