Events of Rajab (رَجَب) in the life of the Prophet ﷺ

In this Hijri month, Rajab (رَجَب), the book “Siratul Mustafa” records 7 events from the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions. Dates follow the text of the book; where scholars differ on a date (ikhtilaf), the description gives the main view and the others.

Events by day

27 Rajab — Isra and Mi'raj (the Night Journey and Ascension)

After returning from Ta'if, the Messenger ﷺ was carried from the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram) to the Farthest Mosque (al-Masjid al-Aqsa) and ascended to the heavens. The author lists ten opinions on the year and five on the month; he considers the 11th year of prophethood most likely, and by month the mashhur (widely held) view is the night of the 27th of Rajab. Ikhtilaf (scholarly disagreement) on the date. In the calendar: the 27th of Rajab (as in the main text of the book: the view the author considers more correct or calls mashhur (widely held)). Other opinions: Rabi' al-Awwal; Rabi' al-Akhir (ربیع الآخر); Ramadan; Shawwal.
