Events of Rabi’ al-Akhir (رَبِيع الثَّانِي) in the life of the Prophet ﷺ
In this Hijri month, Rabi’ al-Akhir (رَبِيع الثَّانِي), the book “Siratul Mustafa” records 5 events from the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions. Dates follow the text of the book; where scholars differ on a date (ikhtilaf), the description gives the main view and the others.
Events of the month without an exact day
Rabi’ al-Akhir — Ghazwa of Bahran (Expedition against Banu Sulaym)
News of the gathering of Banu Sulaym at Bahran (a mine in the Hijaz) came in Rabi' al-Akhir; the Prophet ﷺ set out with three hundred Companions, leaving Ibn Umm Maktum ﵁ in Medina; the enemies dispersed and there was no fighting. Ikhtilaf (scholarly disagreement) on the date. In the calendar: Rabi' al-Akhir (as in the main text of the book: the view the author considers more correct or calls mashhur (widely held)). Other opinions: the 16th of Jumada al-Ula: according to some historians he stayed there until the 16th of Jumada al-Ula (others say only ten nights in all).

Rabi’ al-Akhir 6 AH — Sariyya of Muhammad ibn Maslama ﵁ to Dhul Qassa
Ten men under Muhammad ibn Maslama were attacked at night by a hundred fighters of Banu Tha'laba and Banu Uwal; all were killed, and Ibn Maslama, wounded, was rescued.
Rabi’ al-Akhir 9 AH — Expedition of Ali ﵁ to destroy the idol Fuls of the tribe of Tayy
In Rabi' al-Akhir, 9 AH, Ali ﵁ with 150–200 men destroyed the idol Fuls; among the captives was Suffana, daughter of Hatim at-Ta'i; later her brother Adi ibn Hatim accepted Islam.
Rabi’ al-Akhir 10 AH — Dispatch of Khalid ibn al-Walid to Najran to Banu al-Harith
The Messenger ﷺ sent Khalid ﵁ to call Banu al-Harith to Islam for three days; they accepted Islam at once, and then their delegation arrived. Ikhtilaf (scholarly disagreement) on the date. In the calendar: Rabi' al-Akhir, 10 AH (the opinions are of equal weight; the earlier one is taken). Other opinions: Jumada al-Ula, 10 AH.
