69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
The Inevitable (that which has been ordained, namely the Day of Qiyaamah)!
69:2
مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
What is the Inevitable?
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
What shall inform you what the Inevitable is?
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
The Thamud and the Aad rejected the Clamour (they refused to believe in the coming of Qiyaamah).
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
As for the Thamud, they were destroyed by a deafening sound (an earthquake with terrifying sounds).
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
As for the Aad, they were destroyed by a freezing, furious wind.
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
Allaah unleashed it upon them for seven consecutive nights and eight consecutive days. (If you were there after it passed,) You would have seen them (the Aad) lying flat on the ground as if they were hollow palm trunks.
