Surah At-Takathur (التكاثر)
The Rivalry in world increase · Meccan · 8 ayahs · Juz 30
- 102:1
أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
Rivalry in amassing wealth has made you negligent (heedless of fulfilling Allaah's commands)...
- 102:2
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ
...(and this rivalry will continue making you negligent) until you reach the graves (when you die). (It is only once a person dies that he realises the futility of amassing wealth because none of it will benefit him in the Aakhirah.)
- 102:3
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Never! (This rivalry will not benefit you!) Soon you will come to know (the errors of your ways) !
- 102:4
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Never! (This rivalry will certainly not benefit you, but) You will soon come to know (the truth of this after death)!
- 102:5
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
Never! If you had certain (definite) knowledge (of reality, you would not have preoccupied yourself with this rivalry to accumulate wealth).
- 102:6
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ
(By Allaah! Because of your preoccupation with this rivalry,) You will definitely see Jahannam (when you enter it) !
- 102:7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
(By Allaah!) You will then surely see it with the eye of certainty (and you will be unable to deny its existence).
