The Holy Quran 9:85 — Surah At-Tawbah

Arabic text

وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ

Translation

Their wealth and their children should not impress you. Allaah intends to punish them with these (punish them by means of their own wealth and children) in this worldly life and (Allaah intends) that their souls depart (from this world) while they are Kaafiroon. (Wealth and children therefore become a major cause of difficulty for people when Allaah uses them as a form of punishment.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولا تعجبك -أيها الرسول- أموال هؤلاء المنافقين وأولادهم، إنما يريد الله أن يعذبهم بها في الدنيا بمكابدتهم الشدائد في شأنها، وبموتهم على كفرهم بالله ورسوله.
