The Holy Quran 9:84 — Surah At-Tawbah

Arabic text

وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَىٰ قَبْرِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ

Translation

(When Rasulullaah ﷺ was about to perform the funeral prayer of the leader of the Munaafiqeen, Allaah addressed him saying,) Do not ever perform (the funeral) salaah for any of them who die and do not stand over their graves (to bury them or to visit their graves). Undoubtedly they disbelieved in Allaah and His Rasool ﷺ and died as disobedient people (as Kuffaar).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولا تصلِّ -أيها الرسول- أبدًا على أحد مات من المنافقين، ولا تقم على قبره لتدعو له; لأنهم كفروا بالله تعالى وبرسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم وماتوا وهم فاسقون. وهذا حكم عام في كل من عُلِمَ نفاقه.
