The Holy Quran 9:41 — Surah At-Tawbah

Arabic text

ٱنفِرُوا۟ خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Translation

Proceed (in the path of Allaah) when light or heavy (happily or reluctantly, rich or poor, in good conditions and adverse conditions), and exert yourselves (make jihaad for the welfare of the Deen) with your wealth and lives in Allaah's way (for Allaah's pleasure). This is best for you (in both worlds) if you but knew.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

اخرجوا -أيها المؤمنون- للجهاد في سبيل الله شبابًا وشيوخًا في العسر واليسر، على أي حال كنتم، وأنفقوا أموالكم في سبيل الله، وقاتلوا بأيديكم لإعلاء كلمة الله، ذلك الخروج والبذل خير لكم في حالكم ومآلكم من التثاقل والإمساك والتخلف، إن كنتم من أهل العلم بفضل الجهاد والثواب عند الله فافعلوا ما أُمرتم به، واستجيبوا لله ورسوله.
