The Holy Quran 8:52 — Surah Al-Anfal

Arabic text

كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

Translation

(The ways of these Kuffaar are just) Like the ways of the people of Fir'oun and those before them. They rejected (denied) the Aayaat of Allaah, so Allaah seized (punished) them because of their sins (and not because of any injustice). Verily Allaah is Powerful (can do whatever He pleases), severe in punishment.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إنَّ ما نزل بالمشركين يومئذ سُنَّة الله في عقاب الطغاة من الأمم السابقة من أمثال فرعون والسابقين له، عندما كذَّبوا رسل الله وجحدوا آياته، فإن الله أنزل بهم عقابه بسبب ذنوبهم. إن الله قوي لا يُقْهر، شديد العقاب لمن عصاه ولم يتب من ذنبه.
