The Holy Quran 8:47 — Surah Al-Anfal

Arabic text

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِم بَطَرًا وَرِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ

Translation

Do not be like those (Mushrikeen of Makkah) who left their homes arrogantly (boastfully) and to show people (announcing that they would not return home without waiting for the Muslim army at Badr) and who prevent (others) from Allaah's path (from Islaam). Allaah surrounds all that they do (He knows all that they do and will punish them for their wrongdoing).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولا تكونوا مثل المشركين الذين خرجوا من بلدهم كبرًا ورياءً; ليمنعوا الناس عن الدخول في دين الله. والله بما يعملون محيط لا يغيب عنه شيء.
