The Holy Quran 8:28 — Surah Al-Anfal

Arabic text

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

Translation

Know that verily your wealth and your children are a test (that distract you from concentrating your efforts towards the Aakhirah and tempt you to betray others) and that indeed a grand reward is with Allaah (in the Aakhirah for those who do not allow these tests to distract them from fulfilling their obligations towards the Deen).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واعلموا -أيها المؤمنون- أن أموالكم التي استخلفكم الله فيها، وأولادكم الذين وهبهم الله لكم اختبار من الله وابتلاء لعباده; ليعلم أيشكرونه عليها ويطيعونه فيها، أو ينشغلون بها عنه؟ واعلموا أن الله عنده خير وثواب عظيم لمن اتقاه وأطاعه.
