The Holy Quran 7:70 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا لِنَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَحْدَهُۥ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا ۖ فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

Translation

They replied, “Have you come to us so that we worship only Allaah and leave what our forefathers used to worship? Bring what (punishment) you have promised (with which you have threatened) us if you are of the truthful!"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قالت عاد لهود عليه السلام: أدعوتنا لعبادة الله وحده وهَجْر عبادة الأصنام التي ورثنا عبادتها عن آبائنا؟ فأتنا بالعذاب الذي تخوفنا به إن كنت من أهل الصدق فيما تقول.
