The Holy Quran 7:179 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ ۖ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ ءَاذَانٌ لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَآ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰفِلُونَ

Translation

Without doubt, We have created a large number of Jinn and mankind for Jahannam. They have hearts with which they cannot understand (the truth), eyes with which they cannot see (the truth) and ears with which they cannot hear (the truth). (In fact,) They are like animals, but even more astray (while animals realise that they should stay away from harm, the Kuffaar rush headlong into Jahannam because of their behaviour). These are the indifferent (heedless) ones.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد خلقنا للنار -التي يعذِّب الله فيها مَن يستحق العذاب في الآخرة- كثيرًا من الجن والإنس، لهم قلوب لا يعقلون بها، فلا يرجون ثوابًا ولا يخافون عقابًا، ولهم أعين لا ينظرون بها إلى آيات الله وأدلته، ولهم آذان لا يسمعون بها آيات كتاب الله فيتفكروا فيها، هؤلاء كالبهائم التي لا تَفْقَهُ ما يقال لها، ولا تفهم ما تبصره، ولا تعقل بقلوبها الخير والشر فتميز بينهما،…
