The Holy Quran 7:157 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ ٱلْأُمِّىَّ ٱلَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَىٰهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَٱلْأَغْلَـٰلَ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلنُّورَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥٓ ۙ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

Translation

"...and who follow the Rasool (who is also) the untutored Nabi (Muhammad ﷺ, about) whom they find (his name and description) written in the Torah and the Injeel (both of which they have) with them. He (Muhammad ﷺ) instructs them to do good, prevents (forbids) them from evil, permits pure things for them (which was forbidden in the previous religions), forbids them from impure things (such as carrion, blood, etc.) and removes from them the burden and shackles (the stern laws) that were (binding) upon them (such as cutting off the portion of a garment that is impure). So the successful ones are certainly those who believe in him, honour him, assist him and follow the light (the Quraan) revealed with him.

هذه الرحمة سأكتبها للذين يخافون الله ويجتنبون معاصيه، ويتبعون الرسول النبي الأمي الذي لا يقرأ ولا يكتب، وهو محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، الذي يجدون صفته وأمره مكتوبَيْن عندهم في التوراة والإنجيل، يأمرهم بالتوحيد والطاعة وكل ما عرف حُسْنه، وينهاهم عن الشرك والمعصية وكل ما عرف قُبْحه، ويُحِلُّ لهم الطيبات من المطاعم والمشارب والمناكح، ويُحرِّم عليهم الخبائث منها…
