The Holy Quran 6:70 — Surah Al-An'am

Arabic text

وَذَرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ لَعِبًا وَلَهْوًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَذَكِّرْ بِهِۦٓ أَن تُبْسَلَ نَفْسٌۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ وَإِن تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عَدْلٍ لَّا يُؤْخَذْ مِنْهَآ ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا۟ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ

Translation

Leave those people alone who regard (what ought to be) their religion (Islaam) as a play and sport (who make a mockery of it) and whom the worldly life has deceived. Use it (the Qur'aan) to advise (people) so that a soul is not detained (held back to suffer punishment) because of its (evil) deeds. There shall neither be any helper nor intercessor for it (to save the soul from punishment) besides Allaah. Should it (the soul) offer every payment (to save itself from punishment in the Aakhirah), it would not be accepted from it. These are the ones who have been detained because of their actions. They shall have a drink of boiling water and an unbearable punishment because they used to commit kufr.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واترك -أيها الرسول- هؤلاء المشركين الذين جعلوا دين الإسلام لعبًا ولهوًا; مستهزئين بآيات الله تعالى، وغرَّتهم الحياة الدنيا بزينتها، وذكّر بالقرآن هؤلاء المشركين وغيرهم; كي لا ترتهن نفس بذنوبها وكفرها بربها، ليس لها غير الله ناصر ينصرها، فينقذها من عذاب، ولا شافع يشفع لها عنده، وإن تَفْتَدِ بأي فداء لا يُقْبَل منها.
