The Holy Quran 6:31 — Surah Al-An'am

Arabic text

قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا۟ يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ

Translation

Undoubtedly those people are losers (ruined) who deny meeting with Allaah until, (the time comes) when the Hour (Qiyaamah) suddenly comes and they cry out, “O dear! How much do we regret our negligence (towards Allaah's commands) in the world!" They will bear the burden (responsibility) of their sins on their backs. Alas! Evil indeed is that which they bear (because it will be the cause of terrible punishment for them).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قد خسر الكفار الذين أنكروا البعث بعد الموت، حتى إذا قامت القيامة، وفوجئوا بسوء المصير، نادَوا على أنفسهم بالحسرة على ما ضيَّعوه في حياتهم الدنيا، وهم يحملون آثامهم على ظهورهم، فما أسوأ الأحمال الثقيلة السيئة التي يحملونها!!
