The Holy Quran 6:138 — Surah Al-An'am

Arabic text

وَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَنْعَـٰمٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ لَّا يَطْعَمُهَآ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَآءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ لَّا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَيْهِ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

Translation

They (the Mushrikeen of Makkah) say of their assumption (without any warrant from Allaah), "These are livestock and crops that are prohibited. Only those people whom we approve of may eat from it." And (there are also those) livestock whose backs have been forbidden (by them when they declared that none may use these animals for riding or for carrying loads) and those upon whom they do not take Allaah's name (when slaughtering them); (all this they do) as a slander against Allaah (because they say that Allaah had commanded it). He will soon punish them (in the Aakhirah) for what (lies) they fabricate.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وقال المشركون: هذه إبل وزرع حرام، لا يأكلها إلا مَن يأذنون له -حسب ادعائهم- مِن سدنة الأوثان وغيرهم. وهذه إبل حُرِّمت ظهورها، فلا يحل ركوبها والحملُ عليها بحال من الأحوال. وهذه إبل لا يَذكرون اسم الله تعالى عليها في أي شأن من شئونها. فعلوا ذلك كذبًا منهم على الله، سيجزيهم الله بسبب ما كانوا يفترون من كذبٍ عليه سبحانه.
