The Holy Quran 62:5 — Surah Al-Jumu'ah

مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ أَسْفَارًۢا ۚ بِئْسَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Translation

The example (likeness) of those (Jews) who were charged with bearing (ordered to practise the teachings of) the Torah and then failed to bear it (to practise its teachings), is like that of a donkey carrying books. (Despite being able to carry a wealth of knowledge on its back the donkey does not benefit from the knowledge.) Appalling (evil) is the example of the people who reject Allaah's Aayaat. Allaah does not guide unjust (sinful) people. (The guidance Allaah sends is of no use to people who stubbornly reject the truth.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

شَبَهُ اليهود الذين كُلِّفوا العمل بالتوراة ثم لم يعملوا بها، كشَبه الحمار الذي يحمل كتبًا لا يدري ما فيها، قَبُحَ مَثَلُ القوم الذين كذَّبوا بآيات الله، ولم ينتفعوا بها، والله لا يوفِّق القوم الظالمين الذين يتجاوزون حدوده، ويخرجون عن طاعته.
