The Holy Quran 61:14 — Surah As-Saf

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوٓا۟ أَنصَارَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَا قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّـۧنَ مَنْ أَنصَارِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنصَارُ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَـَٔامَنَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَكَفَرَت طَّآئِفَةٌ ۖ فَأَيَّدْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَىٰ عَدُوِّهِمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ ظَـٰهِرِينَ

Translation

O you who have Imaan! Be the helpers of (the Deen of) Allaah (by assisting to propagate it in every way,) as (the disciples of Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام did when) Isa the son of Maryam said to the disciples (companions), "Who will help me towards (propagating the Deen of) Allaah?" The disciples (helpers) replied, “We shall be the helpers of (the Deen of) Allaah." (Consequently, they actively engaged in propagating the Deen that Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام taught them.) So (it was soon seen that) a group of the Bani Israa'eel had Imaan while a group of them rejected Imaan (and the two parties clashed in opposition). (As is Our promise,) We assisted (strengthened) those with Imaan against their enemies and they (the Mu'mineen) became victorious (dominant) over them (the Kuffaar).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أيها الذين صدَّقوا الله ورسوله وعملوا بشرعه، كونوا أنصارًا دين الله، كما كان أصفياء عيسى وخلص أصحابه أنصار دين الله حين قال لهم عيسى: مَن يتولى منكم نصري وإعانتي فيما يُقرِّب إلى الله؟ قالوا: نحن أنصار دين الله، فاهتدت طائفة من بني إسرائيل، وضلَّت طائفة، فأيدنا الذين آمنوا بالله ورسوله، ونصرناهم على مَن عاداهم مِن فرق النصارى، فأصبحوا ظاهرين عليهم؛ وذلك…
