The Holy Quran 60:2 — Surah Al-Mumtahanah

Arabic text

إِن يَثْقَفُوكُمْ يَكُونُوا۟ لَكُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَيَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَوَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ

Translation

If they (the Kuffaar) find you (get the upper hand over you Muslims), they will be enemies to you and extend their tongues and hands towards you with evil intent. (They will do everything to harm you without honouring any friendship they may have had with you). (This is because) They wish that you were Kaafiroon (like them). (The Kuffaar will therefore never be pleased with you until you are Kuffaar like them.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إن يظفر بكم هؤلاء الذين تُسرُّون إليهم بالمودة يكونوا حربًا عليكم، ويمدوا إليكم أيديهم بالقتل والسبي، وألسنتهم بالسب والشتم، وهم قد تمنَّوْا -على كل حال- لو تكفرون مثلهم.
