The Holy Quran 5:97 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

۞ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكَعْبَةَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ قِيَـٰمًا لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَٱلْهَدْىَ وَٱلْقَلَـٰٓئِدَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

Translation

Allaah has made the Kabah, the sacred house, as well as the sacred months, the sacrificial animal (slaughtered after Hajj or Umrah) and the garlands (placed around the necks of such animals to signify that they are to be slaughtered in the Haram) a means by which (the physical and spiritual safety and well-being of) mankind is maintained. This is so that you may know that to Allaah belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and that verily Allaah has knowledge of all things (the safety and benefit for mankind that Allaah has placed in all of the above things tells us that He has perfect knowledge and control of everything).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

امتنَّ الله على عباده بأن جعل الكعبة البيت الحرام صلاحًا لدينهم، وأمنًا لحياتهم; وذلك حيث آمنوا بالله ورسوله وأقاموا فرائضه، وحرَّم العدوان والقتال في الأشهر الحرم (وهي ذو القعدة وذو الحجة والمحرم ورجب)
