The Holy Quran 5:72 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

لَقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ يَـٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ

Translation

Indeed those people have committed kufr who say that Allaah certainly is Maseeh the son of Maryam (Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام). The Maseeh (Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام) had told them, "O Bani Israa'eel! Worship Allaah Who is my Rabb and your Rabb! Allaah has definitely forbidden Jannah for the one who attributes a partner to Allaah (commits Shirk) and his abode shall be the Fire (of Jahannam). The oppressors (Mushrikeen) will have no helpers" (to save them from Allaah's punishment).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يقسم الله تعالى بأن الذين قالوا: إن الله هو المسيح بن مريم، قد كفروا بمقالتهم هذه، وأخبر تعالى أن المسيح قال لبني إسرائيل: اعبدوا الله وحده لا شريك له، فأنا وأنتم في العبودية سواء. إنه من يعبد مع الله غيره فقد حرَّم الله عليه الجنة، وجعل النار مُستَقَرَّه، وليس له ناصرٌ يُنقذُه منها.
