The Holy Quran 5:44 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ ۚ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ ۚ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

Translation

We have certainly revealed the Torah in which there is guidance and light (details concerning the laws of Allaah). The Ambiyaa, who were obedient to Allaah, judged the Jews with it (the Torah) and the people of Allaah (the pious ones) and the scholars (also judged with it) because they were instructed to preserve Allaah's Book and they were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people but fear Me and do not sell My verses for a small gain (do not distort the verses of the scriptures I reveal for fear of people and to make some money). Whoever does not judge by what Allaah has revealed, then they surely are (behaving like the) Kaafiroon.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إنا أنزلنا التوراة فيها إرشاد من الضلالة، وبيان للأحكام، وقد حكم بها النبيُّون -الذين انقادوا لحكم الله، وأقروا به- بين اليهود، ولم يخرجوا عن حكمها ولم يُحَرِّفوها، وحكم بها عُبَّاد اليهود وفقهاؤهم الذين يربُّون الناس بشرع الله; ذلك أن أنبياءهم قد استأمنوهم على تبليغ التوراة، وفِقْه كتاب الله والعمل به، وكان الربانيون والأحبار شهداء على أن أنبياءهم قد قضوا…
