The Holy Quran 5:28 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Translation

(Haabeel continued to say) "The fact of the matter is that if you stretch out your hand to kill me, I will not stretch out mine to kill you. Verily I fear Allaah, the Rabb of the universe." (Uthmaan bin Affaan RA used the same words when rebels laid siege to his home before assassinating him.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وقال هابيلُ واعظًا أخاه: لَئنْ مَدَدْتَ إليَّ يدكَ لتقتُلني لا تَجِدُ مني مثل فعْلك، وإني أخشى الله ربَّ الخلائق أجمعين.
