The Holy Quran 5:24 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَآ أَبَدًا مَّا دَامُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ فَٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَـٰتِلَآ إِنَّا هَـٰهُنَا قَـٰعِدُونَ

Translation

They (the others) said, "O Moosa, we shall never enter it (the city) as long as they are present there. So you and your Rabb both go ahead and fight. We shall remain sitting here."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال قوم موسى له: إنا لن ندخل المدينة أبدًا ما دام الجبارون فيها، فاذهب أنت وربك فقاتلاهم، أما نحن فقاعدون هاهنا ولن نقاتلهم. وهذا إصرارٌ منهم على مخالفة موسى عليه السلام.
