The Holy Quran 5:112 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

إِذْ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَـٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۖ قَالَ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Translation

(Remember also the time) When the Disciples said, “O Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام, son of Maryam! Is your Rabb able to send to us a set (fully laid) table (spread with food) from the skies (continuously)?" He (Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام) replied, "Fear Allaah (and do not make such requests) if you are indeed Mu'mineen (if you truly have Imaan, you need not ask for miracles)!"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واذكر إذ قال الحواريون: يا عيسى بن مريم هل يستطيع ربك إن سألته أن ينزل علينا مائدة طعام من السماء؟ فكان جوابه أن أمرهم بأن يتقوا عذاب الله تعالى، إن كانوا مؤمنين حقَّ الإيمان.
