The Holy Quran 58:10 — Surah Al-Mujadila

Arabic text

إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Translation

Secret meetings (to discuss evil) are really (acts) from Shaytaan (which he encourages people to do) to cause grief to the Mu'mineen. However, these (secret meetings) can do nothing to harm them except with Allaah's permission. (Therefore,) Only in Allaah should the Mu'mineen trust (because with Allaah protecting a person, no one can harm him at all).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إنما التحدث خفية بالإثم والعدوان من وسوسة الشيطان، فهو المزيِّن لها، والحامل عليها; ليُدْخِل الحزن على قلوب المؤمنين، وليس ذلك بمؤذي المؤمنين شيئًا إلا بمشيئة الله تعالى وإرادته. وعلى الله وحده فليعتمد المؤمنون به.
