The Holy Quran 52:40 — Surah At-Tur

Arabic text

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ

Translation

Or do (the Mushrikeen reject Imaan because) you (O Rasulullaah ﷺ) ask from them a fee so (and because of this fee they feel as if) they are burdened (troubled) by a penalty (making it difficult for them to accept your message)?

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

بل أتسأل -أيها الرسول- هؤلاء المشركون أجرًا على تبليغ الرسالة، فهم في جهد ومشقة من التزام غرامة تطلبها منهم؟
