The Holy Quran 4:88 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

۞ فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَٱللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟ ۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا۟ مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا

Translation

(When the Sahabah رضي الله تعالى عنهم differed among themselves about what course of action to take regarding some Munaafiqeen, Allaah revealed the following verse stating) What is the matter with you (Sahabah رضي الله تعالى عنهم) that you have divided into two groups with regard to the hypocrites when Allaah has cast them back (into kufr) because of what (sin and incorrect beliefs) they earned? Do you wish to guide him whom Allaah has sent astray? You shall never find a road (to guidance) for the one whom Allaah has sent astray.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فما لكم -أيها المؤمنون- في شأن المنافقين إذ اختلفتم فرقتين: فرقة تقول بقتالهم وأخرى لا تقول بذلك؟ والله تعالى قد أوقعهم في الكفر والضلال بسبب سوء أعمالهم. أتودون هداية من صرف الله تعالى قلبه عن دينه؟ ومن خذله الله عن دينه، واتباع ما أمره به، فلا طريق له إلى الهدى.
