The Holy Quran 4:59 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا

Translation

O you who have Imaan! Obey Allaah, obey the Rasool ﷺ and those in command among you (your leaders and authorities in all fields, such as the Imaams of Jurisprudence in Fiqh). If you dispute regarding any matter, then refer it to Allaah (find the solution in the Qur'aan) and the Rasool ﷺ (or find the solution in the Sunnat) if you believe in Allaah and the Last Day. This is best (for all) and gives the best result (because you will then not be basing your decisions on your personal opinions).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أيها الذين صدَّقوا الله ورسوله وعملوا بشرعه، استجيبوا لأوامر الله تعالى ولا تعصوه، واستجيبوا للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما جاء به من الحق، وأطيعوا ولاة أمركم في غير معصية الله، فإن اختلفتم في شيء بينكم، فأرجعوا الحكم فيه إلى كتاب الله تعالى وسنة رسوله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، إن كنتم تؤمنون حق الإيمان بالله تعالى وبيوم الحساب.
