The Holy Quran 4:38 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗ وَمَن يَكُنِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينًا فَسَآءَ قَرِينًا

Translation

(Such people are) Those who spend their wealth to show people and who neither believe in Allaah nor in the Last Day. The one whose friend is Shaytaan, (should bear in mind that) he is the worst (most evil) of friends indeed (because he leads people only to Jahannam).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأعتدنا هذا العذاب كذلك للذين ينفقون أموالهم رياءً وسمعةً، ولا يصدقون بالله اعتقادًا وعملا ولا بيوم القيامة. وهذه الأعمال السيئة مما يدعو إليها الشيطان. ومن يكن الشيطان له ملازمًا فبئس الملازم والقرين.
