The Holy Quran 4:35 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَٱبْعَثُوا۟ حَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهِۦ وَحَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن يُرِيدَآ إِصْلَـٰحًا يُوَفِّقِ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا خَبِيرًا

Translation

If you fear that the couple may separate, then appoint (with their consent) a mediator from his family and a mediator from her family (because relatives generally have a more thorough knowledge of the situation). If they (the mediators) both desire reconciliation, Allaah will create unity between the couple (if this is best for them). Verily Allaah is All Knowing, Informed (He knows what is best for all and He knows what methods are best to resolve disputes).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وإن علمتم -يا أولياء الزوجين- شقاقًا بينهما يؤدي إلى الفراق، فأرسلوا إليهما حكمًا عدلا من أهل الزوج، وحكمًا عدلا من أهل الزوجة; لينظرا ويحكما بما فيه المصلحة لهما، وبسبب رغبة الحكمين في الإصلاح، واستعمالهما الأسلوب الطيب يوفق الله بين الزوجين. إن الله تعالى عليم، لا يخفى عليه شيء من أمر عباده، خبير بما تنطوي عليه نفوسهم.
