The Holy Quran 4:2 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟ ٱلْخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبًا كَبِيرًا

Translation

Give the orphans (in your care) their wealth (when they reach the age of maturity and understanding) and do not exchange the bad for the good (do not take what is valuable from their wealth and replace it with something inferior). Do not devour their wealth (by including it) with your own. It is indeed a serious sin to do so.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأعطوا مَن مات آباؤهم وهم دون البلوغ، -وكنتم عليهم أوصياء- أموالهم إذا وصلوا سن البلوغ، ورأيتم منهم قدرة على حفظ أموالهم، ولا تأخذوا الجيِّد من أموالهم، وتجعلوا مكانه الرديء من أموالكم، ولا تخلطوا أموالهم بأموالكم; لتحتالوا بذلك على أكل أموالهم. إن من تجرأ على ذلك فقد ارتكب إثمًا عظيمًا.
