The Holy Quran 4:127 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِى ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ فِى يَتَـٰمَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ ٱلَّـٰتِى لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ وَأَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمًا

Translation

They (the Sahabah رضي الله تعالى عنهم) seek from you (O Muhammad ﷺ) a ruling that concerns women. Tell them, "Allaah will give you a ruling concerning them and (concerning) that which is recited to you in the Book (the Qur'aan) with regard to those orphaned girls (in your care) to whom you do not give the right that is ordained for them (the right of inheritance), while you aspire to marry them (and do not allow them to marry others so that you may have their wealth for yourselves). And (also recited to you in the Book are the injunctions concerning) the feeble (helpless) children and that you should deal justly with orphans. Indeed Allaah is Well Aware of whatever good you do.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يطلب الناس منك -أيها النبي- أن تبين لهم ما أشكل عليهم فَهْمُه من قضايا النساء وأحكامهن، قل الله تعالى يبيِّن لكم أمورهن، وما يتلى عليكم في الكتاب في يتامى النساء اللاتي لا تعطونهن ما فرض الله تعالى لهن من المهر والميراث وغير ذلك من الحقوق، وتحبون نكاحهن أو ترغبون عن نكاحهن، ويبيِّن الله لكم أمر الضعفاء من الصغار، ووجوب القيام لليتامى -وهم الذين مات آباؤهم…
