The Holy Quran 49:9 — Surah Al-Hujurat

Arabic text

وَإِن طَآئِفَتَانِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱقْتَتَلُوا۟ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَإِنۢ بَغَتْ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا عَلَى ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ فَقَـٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّتِى تَبْغِى حَتَّىٰ تَفِىٓءَ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَإِن فَآءَتْ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَهُمَا بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَأَقْسِطُوٓا۟ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ

Translation

If two groups of Mu'mineen fight each other, then reconcile (create harmony) between them. (However, despite your efforts to reconcile,) If the one group transgresses against (oppresses) the other, then fight that (transgressing) group until they return to (the obedience of) Allaah's command (to live in peace and harmony with other Muslims). If they return (to the reconciliation process and stop fighting), then reconcile (set things right) between them with justice. Be just, for Allaah loves those who exercise justice.

وإن طائفتان من أهل الإيمان اقتتلوا فأصلحوا -أيها المؤمنون- بينهما بدعوتهما إلى الاحتكام إلى كتاب الله وسنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم، والرضا بحكمهما، فإن اعتدت إحدى الطائفتين وأبت الإجابة إلى ذلك، فقاتلوها حتى ترجع إلى حكم الله ورسوله، فإن رجعت فأصلحوا بينهما بالإنصاف، واعدلوا في حكمكم بأن لا تتجاوزوا في أحكامكم حكم الله وحكم رسوله، إن الله يحب العادلين في…
