The Holy Quran 47:13 — Surah Muhammad

Arabic text

وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ

Translation

(Cautioning the Mushrikeen of Makkah against opposing Rasulullaah ﷺ, Allaah addresses him saying,) Many were the (people of) towns that were more powerful than (the people of) your town (Makkah) which drove you out. (However, despite their immense strength and resources) We destroyed them and they had none to assist them.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وكثير من أهل قرى كانوا أشد بأسًا من أهل قريتك -أيها الرسول، وهي «مكة» - التي أخرجتك، دمَّرناهم بأنواع من العذاب، فلم يكن لهم نصير ينصرهم من عذاب الله.
